Understanding Asset Profiles

Introducing Asset Profiles

Asset Profiles serve as the control center for each asset within the Argus Tracking platform. Here, users can input and edit vital information, assign assets to groups, add photos, and toggle Driver ID features. These profiles allow for easy management of asset details, including name, registration, and group affiliations.

Finding Asset Profiles

To locate an Asset Profile, head to My Assets and click the blue Profile button below the asset you want to view.

Asset Name

The text entered into the 'Name' box determines how the asset will be identified in all reports. By default, this will be the vehicle's registration, but this can be changed to the driver's name (if it's a dedicated vehicle) or the vehicle type (e.g. digger).

Asset Type

Assets are categorised by default based on their type (Road Registered, Asset Trackers, Assist Assets, Decommissioned Assets). When you access My Asset, you'll see all your assets listed. To filter assets by different types, click on the sub-sections under My Assets in the sidebar.

Asset Registration

The 'Registration' box relates to your assets vehicle registration and is a required field.

(Please note: When updating registration on an asset profile there should be no spaces after the last character).

Asset Groups

An asset can belong to multiple groups (e.g. Sales and Christchurch).

Adding Assets to Groups

To add an asset to a group, click on the 'Groups' box, select the group/s you want to add it to and press the blue save button.

Images

In each Asset Profile, you can add up to three images.

For more information on how to add images to an asset, view this article

Toggles

Below the main asset details and images, you'll find a section of toggles. Here, you can enable or disable Driver ID Tags, Buzzers and 90km speed limits.

Enabled toggles will appear blue, while disabled toggles will be white. After toggling the features, please click the blue Save button to apply your changes.

(Please note: Turning Driver ID and Buzzer toggles on will not activate these features - they require additional hardware. If you wish to add these features, please submit a support ticket or contact your Account Manager).

Asset Details

Further down each Asset Profile page, you'll find Asset Details.

The top 6 boxes (Make, Model, Engine Number, Year, Vehicle Type, and Fuel Type) are automatically populated through NZTA Sync if the information is available. If the data is not available, the box will be left blank.

The rest of the boxes are for other details relating to your asset. These relate to:

  • Your business/organisation (Fleet ID, Cost Center, Fuel Card Number etc).
  • Your lease (Lease Start Date, Lease Term, Lease Distance etc).
  • Your purchases (Purchase Date, Purchase Price etc).
  • Your assets/vehicles (Tyre Size, RUC Cost per 100km, Fuel L/100km etc).

If you're unsure of any details that relate to each specific vehicle, www.carjam.co.nz or www.rightcar.govt.nz are great sources to find information.

(Please note: If you want to use the Asset Register to its full potential, it's recommended to fill out each Asset Profile in as much detail as possible. This is because Asset Register information is pulled from your asset profiles).

For more information about the Asset Register, please see this article.
