As with any battery-operated device, the batteries for your LOCI Asset Trackers will need replacing at some stage and the longevity of these batteries will depend on how often your device 'pings' and the heat conditions the battery has encountered.
Replacement Batteries
When you first receive our Asset Trackers, they come with fresh batteries already installed. However, if you ever need to replace them down the line, you'll need to pick up new ones from your local battery supplier (think places like Mitre 10, The Warehouse, and similar stores).
Our Asset Trackers run on standard off-the-shelf Lithium or Lithium Thionyl Chloride (LTC) batteries, specifically 3x Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA Batteries (see image below for reference).
Preparation
To replace the batteries in your asset trackers, you will need the following:
- A LOCI Asset Tracker
- 3x new Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries
- A small Philips head screwdriver
- A small plastic, wooden, rubber or non-metal prying tool (optional)
Replacing the Batteries
Step 1: Unscrew the six screws on the back cover of your LOCI Asset Tracker device.
Step 2: Remove the batteries with a non-metal prying tool (if you have one) or your fingers. Keep them out for 10 seconds and put them back in.
A red light will flash on the back of the green circuit board for a few minutes to signify that the batteries are working and that the device is connecting to the network.
Please Note: Asset Trackers ping 3x per day with 8-hour intervals e.g. if you input the batteries at 9:04am, they will ping at 5:04pm, 1:04am, and 9:04am.
Step 3: Replace the back cover and screw it on with the six screws you removed in step 1 to ensure IP67 waterproof protection.
