How to set up an overspeed alert for a driver

  • Updated

To set up an overspeed alert for a driver, they will need to be set up as a user within the Argus Hub so that they have the ability to download the Fleet Management App, but with restricted access so that they can not access any reports or view any vehicles when they log in. The only features that will be active for them to use is the check sheet and real-time alerts.

To set the Fleet Managers App up for a driver, please follow these steps:

1. Create a new group within the system and apply NO vehicles to this group. For details on how to create a new group, please see the article How to set up a new group.

2. In the Argus Hub, go to Settings > Users and Drivers, then Add to add each driver as a new user by following the steps below:

  • In the User Profile box, select Custom then activate Fleet Management and Settings by clicking on these toggles so they turn blue. Note, please ensure ONLY these 2 toggles are activated, otherwise your drivers will have access to sections of the app they should not have access to.
  • Fill in the boxes for the driver's first and last names.
  • In the Groups box, select the group you created with no vehicles in Step 1.
  • Scroll to the bottom, then tick the Send email invitation box, then the blue Save button to finish creating this driver.

3. Each driver will receive an email such as the attached welcoming them to Argus Tracking and providing them with their email and password. They will be able to login to the website, but again they will not be able to access any data. We have to set them up with this access so that they can log in and update their own passwords as I'm sure they won't want to keep the randomly generated ones we create.

4. Once they are set up in the system and have changed their password to one they wish to use this will allow them to go to the app store and download the Argus Tracking app on their phones, they will then be able to login to the app. They will see all tabs the managers see but they will not be able to access vehicles or data within these tabs. The only tab they can utilise will be the Checksheet tab and receive Alerts.
Below I have also put a screenshot of what they will see if they log in to the website.  All of these tabs will be blank if they try to click on them. The only one they can use is settings to update their passwords.

These instructions will work for both Android and IOS.
