Location Snapshot Report - How it Works

  • Updated

Overview

The Location Snapshot Report provides a detailed view of where all your vehicles were at a specific moment in time. This report helps you monitor and confirm driver locations and maintain clear visibility across your entire fleet directly from your Argus Tracking dashboard.

When used with Geofences, the Location Snapshot Report also shows which vehicles were inside or outside set boundaries at the selected timestamp. This makes it particularly useful for site attendance, compliance checks, and tax reporting.

How It Works

When you generate a Location Snapshot Report, Argus Tracking captures the most recent location data from all active GPS units at your chosen date and time.

You'll be asked to enter:

  • Asset (vehicle) Groups, Names, and Registrations
  • Date
  • Time (hours and minutes)
  • Report Format (web view, PDF, or CSV)

Once generated, the report displays your fleet's exact location at that moment, along with details such as name of assets, Geofence status and time.

What You Can Do with This Report

Use the Location Snapshot Report to:

  • Check fleet activity at a specific point in time.
  • Verify location compliance, such as which vehicles were inside a worksite at a particular hour.
  • Support customer queries or proof-of-service verification.
  • Monitor driver whereabouts for safety or dispatch purposes.
  • Provide timestamped evidence for tax and compliance purposes, such as verifying business use, supporting Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) reporting, and validating mileage or logbook records.

You can generate this report on demand from the Reports tab and export it as a PDF or CSV for sharing and record-keeping.

Example Use Cases

  • Daily Check-ins: View where all vehicles were at 8:00 AM to confirm shift start locations.
  • Incident Review: Validate a vehicle’s position during a reported event or customer query.
  • Compliance Reporting: Prove attendance within specific job sites or restricted areas.
  • Tax and FBT Support: Use timestamped location data to verify business use, assist with FBT reporting, and support accurate logbook or mileage claims.
