Viewing Travel History with Smart View

Purpose

The Smart View feature helps you quickly see the most important parts of a trip’s travel history. Instead of scrolling through every event, Smart View filters out less relevant points so you can focus on the key movements and activities.

Overview

When reviewing a trip in Travel History, you can now switch between Smart View and Detailed View using the toggle next to the filter options.
By default, Smart View is turned on.

  • Smart View (toggle on) – Shows a condensed set of events:

    • 10 events before the first Ignition On event

    • All events between the first Ignition On and last Ignition Off (with only one event per minute or every 500 m travelled, whichever comes first)

    • 10 events after the last Ignition Off event

  • Detailed View (toggle off) – Shows all recorded events for the day without filtering.

How It Works

Smart View uses a combination of time and distance-based filtering to remove redundant points.
For example:

  • If the vehicle sends frequent position updates while stationary, Smart View will show fewer of these, keeping only key moments.

  • While driving, it will limit the event list to one per minute or every 500 m travelled.

  • Before and after a trip, you’ll still see some context with the 10 events before and after movement.

This means you can quickly identify:

  • When and where the vehicle's activity for the day started and ended

  • Significant movements during the day

  • Context before and after the activity

Switching Views

  1. Open the Travel History for the vehicle or asset.

  2. Locate the Smart View toggle next to the filter controls.

  3. Select:

    • Smart View on (right) to focus on key vehicle events.

    • Smart View off (left) to see every recorded event.

The system will remember your selection for the current session.

Why Use Smart View

Smart View is especially useful when:

  • Reviewing long trips with hundreds of events

  • Focusing on route analysis without clutter

  • Investigating specific incidents or stops without unnecessary points

For in-depth investigations or audits, you can easily switch back to Detailed View.

Tip: If you regularly switch between views, keep in mind that Smart View is the default when you first open Travel History.
